This crispy buffalo tofu is the perfect vegan alternative to traditional buffalo wings. The tofu gets crispy and golden in the oven, and the buffalo sauce is just the right amount of spicy. Serve with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks for a complete meal.

Ingredients

For the Tofu:

  • 1 block firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup vegan buffalo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegan butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into small cubes and place them in a bowl. Add the cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Toss until the tofu is evenly coated.
  3. Spread the coated tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  4. While the tofu is baking, make the buffalo sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the buffalo sauce, melted butter, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
  5. Once the tofu is done, remove it from the oven and toss it in the buffalo sauce until evenly coated.
  6. Serve immediately with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.

Notes

  • For extra crispy tofu, freeze the tofu overnight before pressing and cooking.
  • Adjust the hot sauce to taste for desired level of spiciness.
  • Serve with a side of rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
